TJ’s review: 5 out of 5 stars My review: 4 out of 5 stars (but it should be 2 stars)
Our overall impressions
If you were a kid of the ’80s, then you may like the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Secrets of the Sewer exhibit at the Orlando Science Center until September 2. It has many exhibits, but our favorites were the Ninja dress-up station, Donnie’s lab puzzle station, and the area where you crawl through a ropes course. It takes about 20-30 minutes to go through the exhibit, so it may not be worth the price of admission for a big family that doesn’t have a year pass.
The kids enjoyed the exhibit, but they were more interested in the Hive on the third floor for kids 8 and older and the kids area (normal offerings). The kids area is so much fun with an Orange grove room and the theater room. The water area is great for small kids, which is next door to the toddler area. Behind the toddler area is the room that resembles the old engineering room where you can build using wooden planks and screws.
They have an area on the first floor with fish and other animals. They are supposed to expand the animal area on the first floor into the old kids area, but nothing has been done yet. There also is a Subway where the kids can have pizza, cookies, and drinks at a 10% discount for year passholders. The fourth floor has the dinosaur room, which has an excavation area that the kids love. The other room has exhibits and a laboratory for experiments.
Cost and insider tips
OSC is always a great deal for Bank of America, teachers, and passholders. It costs $173.50 for a renewal family membership with an extra person included. The year pass also includes four guest passes per year. It costs $21 for adults and $15 for kids, but kids 2 and under are free. You can go when it is too hot or rainy outside because it has covered parking with a tunnel to the entrance. The first weekend of every month is free for Bank of America customers. You can go to the Mess Fest (our favorite) in May and other special events, including adults-only events and others at the observatory. You can get a free pass if you are a teacher, but you will still need to get passes for your kids.
